Ultima, the High Seraph

"Masterpiece among the scions created by the gods, and the mastermind of the plot to rise against them. Prior to her betrayal, she was tasked with guiding souls to heaven and aiding in their reincarnation. Called the High Seraph for her angelic wings of glimmering gold, yet it was on wings of deepest black that the tainted angel Ultima rose against the gods. Since her fall, her heart is without light, and impossible to know."

Ultima is one of the twelve Espers from Final Fantasy XII, representing the zodiac sign Virgo. Her defining colour is white, from her elemental power of Holy. So, fellow Virgos, this is our star sign

When fought as a boss, Ultima's signature attacks are Redemption, which deals heavy Holy damage to one character, and Holyja, which inflicts Holy damage to all characters and has a chance of also inflicting the Reverse status effect. In addition, she is constantly protected an area effect which continually shifts, sometimes draining HP, or MP, or at other times sealing certain commands.

When summoned as an ally, her Deathblow/Limit Break is Eschaton, where Ultima launches herself into space, charges an immense beam of Holy energy and fires it out of the cannon located... um... "below". It can, and really should, be viewed here. Curiously, Ultima's standard attack is preferable to her Deathblow, due to Eschaton having such high requirements to be cast (both Ultima and the summoner must be at 10% HP or less!)


Final Fantasy XII-players will notice that this piece isn't a matching copy of Ultima's picture, I chose this angle, both because it was more interesting, and to give myself more of a challenge. Some perspective errors, but ah well...
